Song Li, Simu
Song Li was born in Lu Zhou, Szechwan, China. She started to
learn martial arts at the early age of eight. She was a member
of her local sports wushu team in Lu Zhou. She was recruited
at the age of twelve as a professional member to the Szechwan
national team in Chong Ching.
While on the Szechwan professional team she was required to
sleep with her foot tied to the head of her bed in a split
position. Her training was grueling and intense most of the
time, 6 days a week 8 hours a day. Her training paid off,
leading her to become a three time national champion in
choreographed sparring in 1984, 1986, and 1987. Song Li also
specializes in many weapons and sport forms of wushu. She
was also noted for her straight sword and Ba Qua Zhong
forms. The Chinese government also selected her as a
member of a Chinese national team to travel in China and other
countries to perform Chinese martial arts. During this time she
was able to perform martial art fight scenes in two different
movies.
In 1994, along with many famous martial artists of China, Song
Li’s name was added to the “Chinese Martial Arts Biographical
Dictionary.” This was truly an honor for her. Song Li’s
achievements and hard work will always be remembered.
She met Miyahira Tamotsu in China, and they married in 1989
where they stayed for one more year. Then in 1990, they
moved to Okinawa, Japan. While in Japan, Miyahira Tamotsu
and Song Li opened Tian Xing Jian Chinese Wushu
Association. She now teaches in Okinawa, Japan with her
husband wushu and Tai Ji.
